Inspired from the beach

Having just gotten back from a fantastic afternoon at the beach with family I am inspired to make sure to return to walk on the sand more often.  I will be writing about today’s fun day in the sun in several letters to new pen-pals which will be going out in tomorrow’s mail!

My mailbox was greeted with great ‘real’ mail today.  It was a treasure to receive a hand written letter from a email subscriber today of AnchoredScraps.com!   She was writing to me from Colorado and shared her love of seeing the stack of letters she has written all ready to be mailed.

Unused Beach Umbrella Stamps – Vintage 1990 Postage Stamps Scott Number 2443 Beach Vacation from Edelweiss Post, photo taken by Helen on June 12, 2015

Also greeting me at the mailbox today was another order from Patrick with Edelweiss Post (on Twitter @EdelweissPost).   This order is of Unused Beach Umbrella Stamps – Vintage 1990 Postage Stamps Scott Number 2443 Beach Vacation Stamp Set.  They are still good to count towards the actual postage needed and will adorn these letters.  I first wrote about Patrick on April 16 with my post Complement Thursday with Edelweiss Post“.   Receiving the order is as much fun as getting to use the actual stamps!

One of my goals in having this blog is to find 50 other kindred souls who love and take delight in hand writing letters.

And along with that love of writing letters they may be someone who love the papers they write on, and love their pens, and who may have LOTS of paper and pens, and who may love stamps and have more stamps with postage they will ever use up!  They may be someone who still uses their typewriter and know the joys of typing a page to include in their hand written letter as a fun thing to do and include in their letter further making special the ritual and special-ness of it.

This photo taken by Helen today – the pull out attached ottoman for putting your feet up onto it is a delight to use!

And they could be someone who delights in taking the extra step of using sealing wax to truly elevate the letter before putting into another envelope for safe mailing to their friends and family.

Or you could be like one dear girl friend of mine who enjoys reading my blog and the idea of handwriting a letter!   Her life is so hectic with all of the demands on her that she does not consider herself a letter writer currently but likes thinking this could be her in time.  But she has actually thought about writing me recently so it is great fun to chat about all this when we meet to scrapbook at local scrapbook fundraising events.

It is the sharing our stories and putting them by pen with ink onto paper that is so much fun!  Given my goal to find 50 other kindred souls it is exciting to have already found so many fans of letter writing!   This looks like a good spot to refer us to my About Helen page: “In planning her blog, Helen realized that we all can benefit from anchoring our memories, capturing our stories and sharing them with those important to us.  Through her website and blog, Helen is looking to connect with kindred storytellers who are likewise looking for insights on how to balance our 21st Century technological lifestyles with the joy of traditional communication methods.”

Have you got any trips planned to the beach for this Summer yet?

How about a weekend if not a full week?   I’m still hearing the sounds of the waves and feeling the breeze of the wind on my face.  Or it could be a lake nearby if not the ocean or the hike up the mountain range based on where you live.  Let’s make sure to plan to be outside and enjoy this Summer (and to then include in our letters we write.)

Thank you for being on this journey with me and for reading along daily. Join me tomorrow as we continue enjoying the month of June!

Helen
