On the road again (& our letters)

This week on AnchoredScraps.com we are looking at options to still receive our mail when we are going to be away from “home” for an extended amount of time.

But first:

“On the road again
Just can’t wait to get on the road again
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can’t wait to get on the road again…”
from “On The Road Again” Lyrics & Music by Willie Nelson

Imagine you are given a year to go travel – you and your family (no matter the size) decide to have the roadtrip of all roadtrips and are going to go drive to all 48 States in the continental U.S.!   What to do about your mail?   Today I’m sharing one option with you that I came across for our first blog post in this series of what to do about your mail when you are away.

Escapees Mail Service

Have you heard about Escapees Mail Service?  In a nutshell – a person first becomes a member of the “Escapees RV Club” and from there they can enroll in their “Escapees Mail Service“.   You complete the paperwork and then once all set up you will have an address in either Texas or Florida with a Street Number and Box Number.   The Texas location is set up for you to physically go in and pick up your mail.

The company has over 16,000 Mail Service clients!

Here is the beauty of the system, so you are traveling and everyone knows to send it to your address (and in parallel you got your home to forward to this address too) then when you know you are going to be at a certain location you can have the Escapees Mail Service forward your mail onto you c/o General Delivery at that City with the United States Postal Service (On Twitter @USPS & @USPSStamps).  It was a delight to speak with Ashley today at Escapees and she advised to be sure to check in advance with each Post Office location to make sure they accept General Delivery.

The Escapees Mail Forwarding Service Rates are clearly listed on their website with Category Options A, B, and C.   The site offers a lot of services but for today I wanted us to start exploring with these options.

Have fun looking over the site and perhaps this will get the wanderlust in you dreaming again!  Thank you to Willie Nelson for his talent (his “Stardust” album is still one of my favorites!), to the U.S. Postal Service, and Ashley at Escapees for being so helpful on the telephone today.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Join me tomorrow as we continue this theme of how to receive our mail when we are “On the road again…”
