17

With today being the 17th of November the blog post includes a few things sharing “17” as their theme –  from NASA Apollo 17 Commemorative Cover (that means an envelope) with Unites States in Space Stamp to an article that includes 17 famous quotes about kindness.  It makes for a unique and “something different” to include in a letter you ‘write home about’ or to write to your family and/or friends.

It was nice to discover this cover dated 1972 on the Vintage-Ephemera.com site featuring the Liftoff from the Moon of Apollo 17.  It includes in the description: “The illustration on the left side depicts the lunar landing module blasting off of the moon’s surface. The mission emblem is incorporated into the design too.”

From “Vintage-Ephemera.com web site “Outstanding Commemorative Cover featuring the Liftoff from the Moon of Apollo 17, dated December 14, 1972.”

Last Friday I mentioned briefly the planned blog topic had been World Kindness Day.  It was nice to come across this article since then in the International Business Times entitled “World Kindness Day 2015 Quotes: 17 Inspirational Sayings About Humanity’s Good Deeds“.  The article includes 17 famous quotes about kindness including from Mother Teresa, Mark Twain, and Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Never be so busy as not to think of others.” – Mother Teresa

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” ― Mark Twain

“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

And while today has been “17” for the theme – no – it is not the number of days we have until Thanksgiving – we have 9 !
