Linn’s Stamp News – USPS 100th Anniversary US Entry WWI Pictorial Postmark Available

There is an article over at Linn’s Stamp News this afternoon about the USPS 100th Anniversary US Entry WWI Pictorial Postmark Available, it commemorates the U.S. entry into World War I.

It was just two weeks ago we spent the weekend here covering the World War I Letters Exhibit at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, and WWI Letters Dear Boys In Service by Frank Skidmore.

This weekend, April 22 & 23, there has been a stamp show held by the Kalamazoo Stamp Club in Kalamazoo, Mich – the postmark is offered by the U.S. Postal Service in association with their stamp show.

Linn’s Stamp News Article

The Linn’s Stamp News article today by Michael Baadke is very informative, it is entitled: “USPS offers pictorial postmark commemorating U.S. entry into World War I. “

“The artwork on the square or diamond-shape postmark shows a WWI-era biplane in flight with rocky peaks in the background. Three stars are featured in the upper point of the postmark. The inscription commemorates “U.S. ENTRY WW1,” and “100th anniversary station” in Comstock, Mich.”

It includes the address on requesting your pictorial postmark. To read the entire article click here.

“To obtain the U.S. Entry into World War I postmark, address your request to:

100th ANNIVERSARY Station, Postmaster, Box 9998, Comstock, MI 49041-9998, April 22-23.”

Included in the article was this noteworthy statement –  “At this time, the U.S. Postal Service has not revealed any plans to issue postage stamps commemorating the 100th anniversary of U.S. involvement in the First World War.”

This is definitely a Pictorial Postmark that I will be sending away for this week.  If you have any cachet envelope designs you come up with please consider sending to me (email or snail mail) a copy as I would welcome getting to share them here in a future blog post!

Join me tomorrow for us to kick-off the new work week here at AnchoredScraps.com.
