Currier and Ives 1974 Christmas stamp

On this Christmas Day 2017 we are enjoying the Currier and Ives 1974 Christmas stamp.

I’m still recalling Karen Carpenter including a line about them in Sleigh Ride Lyrics.

“There’s a happy feeling nothing in the world can buy
As we pass around the coffee and the pumpkin pie
It’ll nearly be like a picture print from Currier and Ives
These things are the wonderful things we’ll remember througout our lives”

Currier and Ives 1974 Christmas stamp

The 10 cent stamp is part of the Contemporary Christmas series by the US Postal Service, U.S. #1551.

“#1551 1974 10c Christmas, Currier And Ives Fleetwood First Day Cover (Plate Block)”, Mystic Stamp Company

“The scene on this holiday stamp is from a 19th century Currier &.. Ives lithograph. Currier and Ives published more than 7,000 images in the mid- and late 1800s, showing a broad spectrum of American life.”

Whether you are on the road traveling today or all tucked up at home wishing you a joyous Christmas Day 2017!

Anchors Aweigh,

Helen
