Memorial Day 2019 Remembrance Reflections

Memorial Day 2019 Remembrance Reflections is our blog post today.

“The traditional remembrance poppy is a new feature added to this year’s commemorative MLB uniforms. (MLB)”

Earlier this afternoon, noticing each of the Cubs uniforms on the field wearing a traditional remembrance poppy with “LEST WE FORGET” was striking. In looking further I am finding it is for the entire MLB: Major League Baseball unveils commemorative uniforms to honor the fallen on Memorial Day.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) today announced a donation of $200,000 to Rolling Thunder to help cover costs and keep the ride going.

Next, we are looking at Flag Placements and Memorial Day Ceremony at Texas State Cemetery.

My sincere thanks to Ellen Fuller, one of AnchoredScraps My Three Muses, for photos and the video links.

The Wreaths Across America Ceremonial Wreath was on hand during the Flag Placements of over 2500 flags onto all veterans graves. The Flag Placements are done the day before Memorial Day.

Also, I’m including this three-minute video from today, Fox 7 Austin, with “Those who made ‘ultimate sacrifice’ honored at Central Texas ceremonies”.

SOGO Wreaths Sponsorship

Finally, there is an opportunity with WAA/Austin for a Match from WAA/HQ. This means for any $15 wreath sponsorship made by May 31, 2019, then it means two wreaths for Texas State Cemetery, along with WAA donating $5 to Preston Sharp’s nonprofit, Veteran Flags and Flowers (CA0376P), via www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ca0376p. It is a wonderful example of stretching one’s stewardship budget dollars.

In the photo above with the flags are his Godparents, with Ellen.

Furthermore, if the name is sounding familiar, I’m including this from last year’s Flag Day blog post.

“Preston is a 12-year-old student from Redding, California. Back on Veterans Day 2015, he set a goal to honor veterans in all 50 states. … both have a shared Mission to HONOR VETERANS EVERYDAY NOT JUST ON HOLIDAY.”

In conclusion, today I’m closing as I have done on other solemn occasions, with revered silence.
