Wrap-up & Kick-off in Morse Code

This new week begins with wrapping up the month of April and National Letter Writing Month and then on Friday we kick-off the new month of May.

Using the Morse Code Translator today’s blog title translates to:  Di-dah-dah Di-dah-dit Di-dah Di-dah-dah-dit Dah-di-di-di-di-dah Di-di-dah Di-dah-dah-dit, Dit Di-di-dit, Dah-di-dah Di-dit Dah-di-dah-dit Dah-di-dah Dah-di-di-di-di-dah Dah-dah-dah Di-di-dah-dit Di-di-dah-dit

While in Project Management we would not list the Wrap-Up first and then the Kick-Off – this week with the way the dates are falling we find ourselves with this juxtaposed ordering.

Morse code

It was fun to see today is the birthday of Samuel F. B. Morse (1791-1872), co-developer of the Morse code, born on April 27, 1791.  His first message in 1844 was “What hath God wrought?” on the first telegraph line, running from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore.

Years ago while growing up, my siblings and I came across some old telegraph keys and ran some wire between our two tree forts that were built on our ten acres.   We dreamed of basking in the excitement of typing out messages in Morse code and sending to each other!  I do not recall if the wires were long enough and if we ever got it to actually work but the anticipation and joy of it all was fantastic.  I will have to go back and scrapbook about that episode!

National Letter Writing Month concludes this week

At the Letter Writers Alliance website (Twitter: @_LWA) there is an article “People to Mail” with the idea of “13 unusual people to email or snail mail” ranging from Santa Claus to Queen Elizabeth II, to An American Soldier – those are three of the thirteen people they list.  Perhaps you are a fan of someone you have always thought of writing – why not plan to get a letter off this week?  You might hear back!

Call to Action

With today being Monday if you haven’t already done so go ahead and identify your top things you want to get done this week.   Be sure to check out the Anchored Actions from yesterday.

This week is exciting with the different items planned to share.  Tune in tomorrow as we continue on this journey of balancing new technology communication with old-style corresponding (AnchoredScraps.com tagline).  It just doesn’t have to be that old-style of Morse Code!

Anchors Aweigh,   Di-dah Dah-dit Dah-di-dah-dit Di-di-di-dit Dah-dah-dah Di-dah-dit Di-di-dit, Di-dah Di-dah-dah Dit Di-dit Dah-dah-dit Di-di-di-dit Dah-dah-di-di-dah-dah, ,

Helen
