One Year Blogging Anniversary

Today is my One Year Blogging Anniversary!   It was a year ago today, February 26, 2015 that I pressed the Publish button on my first wordpress blog post here and began blogging daily!   Yesterday’s blog post – 365 Daily blog posts – shared my reflections on posting 365 days in a row!

If I had to distill it down to one sentence it is this:

“Any Tendency for procrastination must be contained within 24 hours each day…because the time stamp is going to occur regardless.”

– Helen Rittersporn, AnchoredScraps.com
On lessons learned from blogging every day for a year

One Year Blogging Anniversary

zazzleAnchoredScrapsToday I am looking at the range of themes with letter writing we covered this year on my One Year Blogging Anniversary.    The AnchoredScraps.com tagline continues to be “Balancing new technology communication with old-style corresponding”.

There were these correspondence related “Days” we covered – including International Typewriter Day, International #PenATweetDay, Fountain Pen Day,  National Handwriting Day, Thank a Mailman Day, and  ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Letter Carriers Food drive on a Saturday.

Numerous U.S. Stamps were blogged about including many commemorative ones, there were several ‘day of issue’ stamps, along with different envelope covers and fun to discover a lot of the offerings at USPSStamps and the Postal Museum.

We spanned a range of mail related items including: writing letters of appreciation and gratitude, tucking recipe cards in your snail-mails, celebrating sealing wax, looking at some beautiful fountain pens, post cards that were coloring books, making our own envelopes to fit any size card, including gold stars in our notes, cursive writing,  mailbox services, novelty mail boxes, and Jeopardy! covering stamp categories.

There was a series of Saturday-morning-cartoons themed blog posts with Rocky & Bullwinkle having their own Savings Stamp Club, Superman had his own Stamp Day, Scooby-Doo! was in a letter writing mystery, we remembered Snuffles, and Mutley, and we saw Tweety And Sylvester on a postcard, stamp, and cartoon-movie.

Who knew we would find Agatha Christie with her own Prestige Stamp Booklet, we had a blog post on The address is “Elementary, my dear Watson”, “The Baker Street Letters”, and a blog post that including reference to an article about Letters from James Bond creator Ian Fleming with a friend that had gone on sale in 1963, and Nancy Drew.

It was fun to discover Lewis Carroll with “Eight or Nine Wise Words About Letter-Writing”, there was West Side Story & “The Leonard Bernstein Letters”,  The Letters of Noah Webster,  Mark Twain with “A Letter From Santa Claus”, we celebrated a poem by Robert Frost with the leaves changing color with “October”, and there was the very detailed blog post about Henry V & 600th Anniversary Battle of Agincourt with the commemorative stamp sets issued giving an opportunity to include the Speech from Henry V .

baby-anchor-clip-art-anchor-clipart2Back in my first blog post “There’s Been Talk!”  I reference Seth Godin and I still find myself reading his blog posts daily!   If you have not gotten around to reading his best seller book “What To Do When It’s Your Turn (and it’s always your turn)” you really want to read it and it helps to nudge the “lizard brain” out of the way and to take action!

Thank you for joining me today for my One Year Blogging Anniversary!  Again, please see my blog post from yesterday, 365 Daily blog posts,  as it is very detailed in expressing my sincere thanks to my husband, friends and family, and to the email blog subscribers here who every day receive an email from me in their in-box!

Wishing you a very joyous Leap Year Weekend – as Monday brings us Leap Year Day.  Join me tomorrow for my Saturday blog post and it kicks off Year 2 here at AnchoredScraps!

Anchors Aweigh,

Helen
