Upcoming InCoWriMo 2019 Celebrating Letter Writing

The upcoming InCoWriMo 2019 annual month-long letter writing daily celebration is for International Correspondence Writing Month #InCoWriMo. We are looking at the InCoWriMo site, a great post on preparing for it over at the Letters & Journals Blog, and we wrap up with my sharing how I’m approaching the event this year given it is my third.

I’m going to cut to the chase – at the end of today’s post – IF YOU WANT to have us write each other a letter in February go ahead Contact me now with your snail mailing details so I can include you in the letter writing queue!

This will be my third year participating in #InCoWriMo. If you are wanting to sign-up with over 1500 others who are giving their name and address for sending a letter you can do that over at the incowrimo-2019.org Address Book. You will find my name on the list!

“The way it works is that our join in  page is open from now until January 31, 2019.

If you are so inclined and haven’t done so already, you still have until the end of the month to add your address to this years event.

Everyone who has signed up has a plan to send at least one piece of handwritten correspondence each day during the 28 days of February.   In short, this is a project about writing and sending letters. We often hear comments about who to write. Well fear not, because while the people below will all be busy writing someone, believe it or not, any one of them would be happy to receive a piece of mail from you…

Once January 31, 2019 arrives, the join in page will be closed until December when we will be preparing for 2020.  The full address list will remain here until February 28, 2019.  Once the month is over, we will publish the annotated list of people who asked to remain and continue corresponding for the rest of the year…”

Letters & Journals Blog

Over at Letters & Journals, Jackie Flaherty has a great blog post on Preparing for InCoWriMo 2019. If you are not familiar with her blog, this March she will be celebrating TEN YEARS! Here is my post from last year on Showcasing Letters & Journals Blog (3-09-2018).  Furthermore, I’m loving her new WordPress site!

Helen’s 2019 #InCoWriMo Approach for this year using Jot Neon Starbursts

For 2019 my plans are for writing 28 letters with one for each day. I’m pre-addressing them and will be putting one into the outgoing mail each day. It really is best to DECIDE IN ADVANCE who you want to write! Also, I find taking a photo of each envelope ready to mail each time a good routine. It keeps the best record as my smartphone puts a date stamp on it. It is then much easier for catching up with logging of who writing and replying. This is a lesson from balancing my ‘best of intentions’ with tracking it all.

This afternoon in preparation for planning out my daily letter writing plans, I’m excited to share my Jot Neon Starbursts find at Dollar Tree. I’m using 28 of the 30 in the package.

In my photo below with the afternoon sun streaming onto the kitchen counter, you’ll see each one with a number for the corresponding day.

And yes, that is Cooper’s dog biscuit jar on the left side of the counter!

In Conclusion

If you would like to be one of the 28 I’m sending one each during the Upcoming InCoWriMo 2019 please let me know asap.

You really want to have a plan for who you are writing in advance. This way each day during the event you aren’t spending time THINKING about it. It is busy enough not deciding who to write, looking up names and addresses, and addressing them from scratch.

As we wrap up, one week from today is Groundhog Day, February 2nd.

I sincerely hope you will consider participating this year with the letter writing celebration!   Join me tomorrow for my Sunday blog post.
