1987 22¢ Love You, Dad Father’s Day First Day Covers

We are looking at two 1987 22¢ Love You, Dad Father’s Day First Day Covers. If the stamp itself looks familiar, I included an image of it in my first Father’s Day blog post here back in 2015; however, today we are looking at First Day Covers. Greetings to you and I’m hoping today finds everyone well! I am enjoying being at the #2019NCPEO Convention in Winston-Salem, NC this weekend!

The stamp shown with these Father’s Day First Day Covers “… was part of the Special Occasions Issue (on Twitter @PostalMuseum) and contained ten stamps with messages of Congratulations, Get Well, Thank You, ‘Love You, Dad’, Best Wishes, Happy Birthday, ‘Love You, Mother’, and Keep In Touch.”

Father’s Day First Day Covers – “Silk” and Fleetwood

There are two images I’m showing, one is of the “Silk” and the other a Fleetwood First Day Cover.

Over at Mystic Stamp Company, it is describing the first one as #2270 1987 22c Love You, Dad! Silk First Day Cover

“The “Silk” First Day Covers are produced by Colorano and were introduced in 1971. Each cachet is printed on satin-finish fabric, fastened to the cover, and surrounded by a gold embossed border.”

The next one is its Fleetwood First Day Cover

“Fleetwood began producing covers in 1941. Mystic bought the company in 2007 and is proud to continue its tradition of excellence today. All Fleetwood First Day Covers issued after March 10, 1976, feature interesting information about the stamp subject on the back. These covers are cancelled with either a “killer bar” (a heavy black four-bar cancel) or a black and white pictorial, if offered.”

One of the things I really like about their offering these First Day Covers is their affordability, providing the opportunity to get something unique for a special occasion such as today.
