Upcoming USPS Purple Heart Forever 2019 Stamp

With today being Purple Heart Day, I am sharing about the upcoming USPS Purple Heart Forever 2019 Stamp.

Currently, the Purple Heart 2014 Forever Stamp continues to be on sale at the USPS Postal Store.

Upcoming USPS Purple Heart Forever 2019 Stamp

Last week, I was happy to read the Linn’s Stamp News article by Charles Snee providing the details on the upcoming design.

USPS Purple Heart Forever 2019 Stamp

“The United States Postal Service has revealed the design of a new nondenominated (55¢) Purple Heart definitive (regular-issue) forever stamp it plans to issue later this year.

“More details about this stamp will be announced on a future date,” the Postal Service announced in a July 30 press release.

The vignette (central image) of the stamp features a Purple Heart medal, which is awarded to members of the U.S. armed forces who are wounded or killed during combat operations with an enemy force.

A purple border surrounds the stamp, and the words “Purple Heart” and “Forever USA” are printed along the left and right sides, respectively.

In overall appearance, the design is similar to the 2012 nondenominated (45¢) Purple Heart forever stamp (Scott 4704), which lacks a purple border and shows the medal at a slightly smaller size...”

Also, in looking for information about the history of the Purple Heart, over at the USO.org website, is an article from yesterday which I’m including this beginning excerpt.

“On August 7, Purple Heart Day, the nation pauses to acknowledge and remember the sacrifices made by brave men and women in the military.

The Purple Heart medal is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military. According to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, more than 1.8 million Purple Heart medals have been presented to service members since the award was created in 1782…”

You will want to spend a few minutes reading the entire article.

Join me tomorrow for my Thursday blog post. In the meantime, I’m continuing to follow all instructions and getting plenty of rest following successful dental surgery yesterday. Thank you again for the emails, and cards in the mail.
