Mail Holders is today’s blog topic – ranging from being made up by old vinyl records to a vintage letter hound mail holder from the 1950’s!
Mail Holders
Welcome to Wednesday and for making it already to the half-way mark of the week today we are looking at mail holders as part of our correspondence accessories.
In looking around to find out more about Letter Holders the Letter Hound Mail Holder is definitely worth sharing! Over at ebay I actually put a bid on this one (image on right) for the fun of it! There was not much description. The image upper left is from etsy and was of a Letter Hound Letter Holder.
Over at Make It and Mend It there is a how-to article on Making A Letter Rack by Up-Cycling Old Vinyl Records.
The article includes Tips for using old vinyl records and a list of materials you will need to put it together.
The article references a 2011 book by Sian Berry, “Junk for Joy!: Over 40 inspiring re-use and recycling projects by Sian Berry.” There is a two page pdf is included How to make a vinyl record letter rack DOWNLOADABLE PDF from Junk for Joy! by Sian Berry.
To quote from that article: “Old vinyl records, too scratched to play, make a brilliant raw material for all sorts of up-cycling projects, from small bowls and plant holders, to book ends and letter racks.“
One of my upcoming projects to tackle at an upcoming scrapbook crop in February includes me planning to use modpodge and AnchoredScraps themed papers on a mail holder from Hallmark just picked up last weekend, its theme is currently Christmas (it was priced at 75%off) and it is perfect for making it for year round use – it will be fun to get before, during, and after photos – so stay tuned!
Anchors Aweigh,
Helen
