Special Olympics commemorative forever stamp debuts today

Today’s blog post is focused on staying current with the new stamp issues being made available this month.

To start with, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games commemorative stamp was made available nationwide beginning today, May 9th.

It was fun to pick up a sheet of 20 stamps of the new design today at the Post Office which was very busy with the Letter Carriers Food drive underway – with the heavy rain people were dropping off to help keep the bags dry!

The Special Olympics World Games will be held in Los Angeles from July 25 to Aug. 2. “It will be the first time the Special Olympics World Summer Games have been held in the United States since 1999.”

“Fifty million Special Olympics World Games Forever stamps were produced. Customers may purchase the stamps at usps.com/stamps, the Postal Store, at 800-STAMP24 (800-782-6724) and at Post Offices nationwide or visit ebay.com/stamps to shop for a wide variety of postage stamps and collectibles.”

Photo shown today (upper left) is a “set of empty post stamps” and is licensed through Dreamstime.  It is not of any actual stamp.

The Special Olympics stamp is one of three New Stamp Issues for May 2015.  To view them click here or individually below:

May 09 – Forever (49¢) Special Olympics Pane of 20

May 18 – Forever (49¢) Forget-Me-Not (Help find missing children) Pane of 20

May 25 – Forever (49¢) Medal of Honor (three designs) Prestige Folio of 24. The Medal of Honor: Vietnam War Forever® stamps will be released 5/25 in D.C.

There is something very enjoyable in picking up the newest stamps and using them.   I encourage you to make time this month to get by and pick up a few.  As noted above you can also get online too.
