Both of today’s books are in celebration of two new books on Typewriters! They coincidentally also first appeared together back on my June 23 blogpost: Celebrating International Typewriter Day.
My copy of the new book “The Typewriter” from UPPERCASE just arrived today! And an issue of Treasures Magazine via Richard Polt, author of his upcoming book “The Typewriter Revolution” arrived over the weekend.
“The Typewriter: A Graphic History of the Beloved Machine”
IT arrived today – this truly fantastic book “The Typewriter: A Graphic History of the Beloved Machine” by Janine Vangool, editor/designer of UPPERCASE magazine. If one were to describe this as a “beautiful coffee table book” it would not do it justice.
Her site describes the book as “A richly illustrated book full of never-before published typewriter memorabilia, intriguing historical documents and entertaining anecdotes, The Typewriter: a Graphic History of the Beloved Machine is a beautiful ode to an all-but-obsolete creative companion… 150 YEARS OF HISTORY – A LIFE-LONG OBSESSION -THREE YEARS IN THE MAKING”.
If you have been trying to figure out a wonderful gift to get someone please consider this book, I’m truly in awe of her talent.

Treasures Magazine & Update on upcoming book “The Typewriter Revolution”
Earlier this month I was able to reply quickly enough to be among the first two email replies to receive a free copy of the May 2014 issue of Treasures Magazine; it arrived over this past weekend and it is a delight to go through it!
The Treasures Magazine article “Soft Return” – story by Jason Zasky, and photos by Richard Polt, is a wonderful article and I love the photos of these old type writers! Thank You Richard for the magazine!
The article talks about the typewriter revival and includes photos from the collection of Richard Polt, author of “The Typewriter Revolution” to be released Fall 2015. I’m so glad I have already pre-ordered this book and looking forward to it!
As I conclude today’s blog post, I wanted to mention that it is fitting that today should be the day I received an email update from the person who is working on Dad’s Typewriter. He wanted to let me know it is coming along, there are still a few of the keys that are sticking, but it all sounds normal process. I am happy to have found this person who specializes in typewriters. I hope you will consider adding these two books to your library, as I am, and you may find they are just your Type!

Helen
