Love stamps on Valentine’s Day is today’s blog post.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

There is a box of a framed 1988 Love stamp 45 cents – from the Stamps & Stories in a brass frame along with a lapel pin of the Love 22 cent stamp (photo on the right) I received as a Christmas gift this past December.  It was at the local Stamp Club Christmas dinner and we exchanged gifts anonymously by drawing numbers.   It has been so much fun to wait to share these two finds with today’s blog post being Valentine’s Day!

The first issue in the popular “Love” series is the 8 cent US Stamp.

The Love series of US Stamps was introduced by the U S Postal service in 1973.   “The Love stamps are usually issued in time for Valentine mailing and feature designs filled with “hearts, roses, swans, and more, celebrating every splendor of that many-splendored thing.” … Love stamps are classified as “special” stamps.   They are on sale longer than commemoratives, are usually printed in greater quantities, and may go back to press to meet demand.”

Out of the stamps that have been issued in the Love series these three I found listed as available for sale at the USPSStamps site: 2013 Sealed with Love, 2015 Forever Hearts, and from the USPS site: Quilled Paper Heart issued on January 16, 2016 this year.   There is a nice article on the Love series stamps at the Mystic Stamp Company and at the USPS site they list all of the stamps since 1973 in the Love series.

Here’s to hoping today’s Valentine’s Day brings you a wonderful day of good memories!   Join me tomorrow for Presidents’ Day as we kick-off a new week here at AnchoredScraps.com!

Anchors Aweigh,

Helen
