Shirley Temple stamp debuts today kicking off Monday, April 18th.
As we begin a new week today’s blog post is short and sweet.
And I’ve included a vintage post card attributed to her home taken sometime between circa 1930 and circa 1945.
Shirley Temple stamp debuts today
The stamp is being issued by the U.S. Postal Service today. It will be the 20th stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series.
Because it is a Forever stamp it means the price is actually 47 cents given the price reduction in postal prices that went into effect on April 10th. The stamps will be sold in a pane of 20 stamps.
Details of how to get First-Day-of-Issue postmark can be found here, and can be obtained within 60 days by mail.
“I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked for my autograph.”
– Shirley Temple
There is a lengthy article about her life and movie career at stampnewsnow.com.
Some of her later movie roles as a young woman are the ones that come to mind for me: in the western “Fort Apache” with John Wayne, and the David O. Selznick war movie, “Since You Went Away” with Claudette Colbert.
Here’s to a great week ahead!
