Finally, it is here – the Star Trek Forever Commemorative Stamps Today ! “The release of the stamp falls almost 50 years after the television series premiered Sept. 8, 1966.”
The blog post for today has on purpose been held to this evening to include images from tweets and articles posted of The First-Day-of-Issue Dedication Ceremony held today. “The first-day-of-issue ceremony kicks off Star Trek: Mission New York, a three-day convention following the buzz of the July 2016 movie and on the heels of an upcoming 2017 television series. “
My pre-order online of the new Star Trek stamps was activated overnight with the date stamp. I’m delighted to know they are on their way to me!
Over at StarTrek.com today it includes:
“The United States Postal Service officially unveiled its new Star Trek-inspired stamp series at Star Trek: Mission New York, during an exclusive First Day of Issue Ceremony today that featured appearances by Walter Koenig, Trek’s original Chekov, and Megan J. Brennan, the 74th and first female postmaster General of the United States.” …
“The colorful stamps — which are digital illustrations — depict the Starship Enterprise inside the outline of a Starfleet insignia against a gold background, the silhouette of a crewman in a transporter against a red background, the silouette of the Enterprise from above against a green background and the Enterprise inside the outline of the Vulcan salute against a blue background.” …
It has been a VERY RAINY day with Tropical Storm Hermine making its way across the Carolinas. As mentioned in my blog post yesterday back on January 01 my blog post here was on Star Trek stamps announced beaming in 2016. It has been worth the wait! “Beam me up, Scotty” – along with my new stamps and an umbrella!
