On this First Sunday of Advent, our blog topic is Advent Letters From Bethlehem.
Four weeks from today is Christmas!
With getting out the Christmas decorations we are determining the best placement for the Christmas tree and its co-existing with our puppy Cooper. Happily, our Advent wreath is not at risk – being out of reach (we think) from him!
Letters From Bethlehem
The 1997 book – Letters From Bethlehem by Wayne Tilden caught my eye in preparing to write today’s blog post. I’ve already gone ahead and ordered my own copy of it.
“Five monologues, in the form of short letters, take you into the thoughts and reflections of the traditional Advent figures as they share their experiences with those close to them. …
The letters are from:
The angel to a friend
The shepherd to his family
The wise man to his court
Mary to her mother
Jesus to the childrenEach letter is followed by a hymn suggestion.”
Even if we aren’t ready to tackle decorating yet we can pull out the Advent Wreath and light the first candle today. I’m determined to get a head start on Christmas Cards this afternoon. And yes, Christmas really is four weeks away!
Anchors Aweigh,
Helen
