With it being Sunday evening and recalling TV Episodes of the western Bonanza it is great timing to see there is a Dan Blocker Pictorial Postmark 2017 available this month!

The latest USPS Postal Bulletin 22471 dated July 06 in its Pictorial Postmarks Announcement section includes the Dan Blocker Pictorial Postmark 2017 along with details on how to request.

Also, over at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal there is an article from two weeks ago about the USPS Pictorial Postmark. The background information they provided was informative and has me sending off for one!

“Dan Blocker, the legendary Hoss Cartwright of the 1960s Bonanza television series, will be featured in a pictorial postmark available July 6 in his hometown at the O’Donnell post office, located at 809 Doak St.

Stella Arguello, postmaster, said it has been 10 years since the last Blocker postmark was offered.

This year, the postmark will be the same cartoon character featured in 2007.

“He’s our hometown hero,” she said. “He’s like what Buddy Holly is to Lubbock — he’s our Buddy Holly.”

 For up to 30 days after July 6, the post office in O’Donnell will take requests for the postmark by customers who send a blank envelope or postcard with postage, or by visiting the post office to ask personnel to stamp it with a Dan Blocker Station postmark. The zip code at O’Donnell is 79351-9800.” …

I’m off to look for a YouTube with the cast singing the opening Bonanza theme, so far I’ve found Lorne Greene singing what I heard described as a fictional history in Things You Didn’t Know about ‘Bonanza’ – Stay tuned!
