What a day of mysteries to unravel with Nancy Drew, and Raymond Reddington.
Nancy Drew, and Raymond Reddington –
First there was recalling Nancy Drew mysteries at lunch time conversation today and then watching Raymond Reddington in “The Blacklist” on TV tonight knowing there are still things to be unveiled there.
I can imagine if one were to correspond with writing letters back and forth to either one of them they would be letters to keep. They might be cryptic and one might need the Rosetta Stone to help decipher clues but they would not be “dull”!
Today is our first Thursday in this new year and it has already been a very fast paced work week!
Nancy Drew Mystery Stories
It was fun today when asked at lunchtime by my dear friend Tally (one of My Three Muses) “… so what/why was Samuel Morse doing sitting in the Supreme Court chamber of the Capitol” when he sent the first official telegraph transmission on May 24, 1844? This was in follow-up to my blog post yesterday – “… 1944 3cent Telegraph Centenary stamp – “U.S. #924 was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first official telegraph. Its inventor, Samuel F.B. Morse, sent the transmission on May 24, 1844. That day, Morse sat in the Supreme Court chamber of the Capitol and tapped out the message, “What hath God wrought!” This phrase is included in the stamp design among the telegraph wires.” I had wondered that myself and am looking for us to figure that one out – this is an opportunity for us to be in our own Nancy Drew adventure!

Nancy’s Mysterious Letter (Nancy Drew Mystery Stories, Book 8) First published in 1932, the 1968 edition includes this plot summary – “By mistake Nancy Drew receives a letter from England intended for an heiress, also named Nancy Drew. When Nancy undertakes a search for the missing young woman, it becomes obvious that a ruthless, dangerous man is determined to prevent her from finding the heiress or himself. Clues that Nancy unearths lead her to believe that the villainous Edgar Nixon plans to marry the heiress and then steal her inheritance.”

Did you catch the season opener for “The Blacklist” tonight in part 1 of “The Director”? I’m going to have to catch all of it on replay this weekend as I joined it late – what a roller coaster ride for what I did see! The finale remark that closed out tonight’s episode I am not going to include here as I do not want to be a spoiler, especially as several of my friends and family who are also email subscribers to this blog watch “The Blacklist” and may not have seen tonight’s episode yet. It had me cheering and already wanting next week to get here sooner to see part 2!
Here’s to making time for Nancy Drew, and Raymond Reddington – whether that means having our own type of Nancy Drew adventure, (i.e. figuring out in time the rest of the story with Samuel Morse from 1844 as mentioned above) and/or to encouraging our family and friends to hurry up and watch the episode from tonight of “The Blacklist” so we can compare notes! I do envision Red having the finest of fountain pens and somewhere in there between all of the fast-paced life he has making time to write an occasional letter – perhaps we will discover one day a stash of letters written to Liz over the years!
