Today on AnchoredScraps.com we are pausing from our theme this week of getting ourselves organized with our personal correspondence.
We celebrate today being one month since launching this blog on February 26, 2015 and having posted daily!
It is a delight that the photos of spring flowers being shown today were emailed to me from an AnchoredScraps.com email subscriber that were taken in their yard today! It is a joy to have met the people I have already met and am excited about this next month as we continue this journey together!
It was a month ago today the site launched with my first AnchoredScraps.com blog post. In it I described “… what inspired my web name of AnchoredScraps.com; every time I see the name I am reminded its inspiration came from Dad as a tribute to his naval service.” Today I recalled that during the Memorial Service in January for my Dad, the minister included several quotes from Pascal weaving them into his message celebrating my Dad’s 85 years well-lived life.
It was wonderful today to come across this quote from Pascal about Letters. “I have only made this letter longer because I have not had the time to make it shorter.”(Letter 16, 1657)” ― Blaise Pascal, The Provincial Letters
And there was this quote from W.H. Auden I came across:
“And none will hear the postman’s knock
Without a quickening of the heart.
For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?”
As today is Thursday and we are close to going into the weekend, go ahead now and make plans for this week-end to spend the 15 minutes to write an actual letter by hand! You already have everyone’s name and address handy from yesterday’s call-to-action exercise!
Tune in tomorrow when we resume our theme for this week of getting ourselves organized with our personal correspondence and find out what an old Jimmy Stewart movie has to do with it!
Anchors Aweigh,
Helen
