Happy Saturday! With writing a daily blog about letter writing I am now seeing more related stories when reading.
There were four recent items I wanted to share in case you had not seen them yet.
Why not see how many of them are news to you!
There were some personal letters of Albert Einstein that went up for auction on June 11th this week
At the Profiles In History auction site they are showing they sold for more than $400,000. Prior to the auction, there was this article in The Telegraph: Einstein letters to be auctioned for expected $1 million “A collection of letters written by the physicist details his views on God and how McCarthyism could have led to an American Hitler”. Other article included this one in Fine Books Magazine: “An Exceptional Collection of Albert Einstein Writings to be Auctioned by Profiles in History on June 11“.
You can now make travel plans to include seeing the World’s Rarest Stamp
World’s Rarest Stamp Now on Display at National Postal Museum – The British Guiana One-Cent Magenta: The World’s Most Famous Stamp is now on display at the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum until November 2017. One of the things interesting about this stamp is it has spent most of its time in a bank vault because of its rareness. “No postage stamp is rarer than the sole-surviving example of the British Guiana One-Cent Magenta. “
There is a new Elvis stamp planned for August 12 2015 at Graceland for the First-Day-of-Issue ceremony
Here is the Postal News at the USPS Postal Service to Issue Elvis Presley Stamp
And there was this Washington Post article Can USPS find magic again with a new Elvis stamp?
And if you have not seen yet from yesterday this special posting about the kindness of mystery postal worker
Yesterday on Twitter there was this special posting the @USPS had retweeted about the kindness and thoughtfulness of a mystery postal worker helping a 3-year-old boy with mourning the passing of his beagle. If you haven’t read this one yet it is quite touching. Mashable “Mystery postal worker writes letter as dead dog for a mourning 3-year-old boy http://on.mash.to/1GxdZ6G”
Photo shown upper left taken by Helen today of her Anchor tote bag. It is made by Mudpie and is a special gift I received from one of my three muses in celebration when I posted my 80th blog post! I have been saving the opportunity to share it here and today is perfect! The gift came with a hand written note including ‘Congratulations Helen on your 80th blogpost! Word is out you like anchors, this may be the beginning of a new themed gift trend for you.’ She had found it in a gift shop in the mountains of North Carolina. Thank you again!
So how did you do – had you already read about all of them? Half of them? None of them? Was it all news? See if you don’t start seeing more of these kind of items when reading moving forward. Thank you for reading along with me today. Join me tomorrow for my Sunday blogpost.
Anchors Aweigh,
Helen
