Gonna Fly through Fall (Sept. thru Dec. planning)

Welcome to the month of September here on AnchoredScraps.com.  With today being September 1st it finds the Project Manager in me getting out my personal calendar and mapping out the next FOUR months to take us through December.   While the weather may still look and say ‘summer’ we are now in September!  By doing some calendar planning today we can be better organized instead of chasing dates on the Fall calendar.

You will want to map out any trips planned and any associated kennel boarding needed, pencil in deadlines you want to be sure to have booked any flights with the airlines, map out when you plan to pick out the Halloween costume(s), when you want to have Thanksgiving plans set, and yes, I will say it, even map out what you anticipate your Christmas plans to be – in general I suggest mapping out the next 18 weeks to take us to New Years Day 2016!  You probably have noticed the calendar I have included in today’s blog post and you manually counted all of the weeks and it is really is 18 weeks!  Be sure to note any birthdays and anniversaries you are wanting to celebrate and indicate the dates on your calendar of when to send each card out.

“In many ways, September feels like the busiest time of the year.  The kids go back to school, work piles up after the summer’s dog days, and Thanksgiving is suddenly upon us.” – Brene Brown

“My favourite poem is the one that starts ‘Thirty days hath September’ because it actually tells you something”. – Groucho Marx

If this is going to be the year your fall front door has beautiful mums on the front porch steps, or you have the coolest Halloween costume(s) for your family (purchased or hand-made), or finally get around to being the organizer for the Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange – there is time!  Plan it.  …  It could be this is the Fall when you want to go drive up to see the leaves change color – there is time! Plan it. …    It could be you decide that finally this year you are going to take advantage of early sales and actually send out Christmas photo cards of your family – there is time to get that photo made now, this month, next month – plan it.  …. And you could say you know instead of watching everyone on television on New Year’s Eve this year you are going to be there in person – plan it!  …  The ideas listed here are just to kick start your creative thinking – even if you pick only one of your ideas and plan it you will be ahead of things.  The operative word is plan it and have it on your calendar!

It may feel like ‘Wow that’s a lot of work’ with your calendar planning and so I’ve included one of the best inspirational ‘get out your running shoes and go!’ movie clips out there – “Rocky” from 1976.  Thank you to MovieClips (On Twitter @MOVIECLIPS).

And if you prefer it – from Rocky II (1979) I have included that scene as well.  I love seeing Rocky with the kids chasing him running through the streets of Philadelphia up the steps.  Thank you to memoemc2 on YouTube.

Today’s blog post included the fun of getting to touch bases with two of My Three Muses, Ellen, and Tally.   Thank you to Ellen for her help with getting the title just right for today’s blog post!  Seeing these movie scenes from “Rocky” running through the streets has me recalling the joy it was to personally run up those same 72 stone steps myself in 2008 while in town for the Philadelphia Half Marathon along with Tally.  Running up those steps is not part of the course but that is where the race begins and ends (Start/Finish).  And Thank you to Tally for her help in recalling just how cold it was that day!  We were there to walk the event as the course is walker friendly on a very cold Sunday morning in November, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

From visitphilly: “You can do your own Rocky impersonation 365 days a year by visiting the Art Museum steps, which are located on the Northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The Rocky Statue is now located in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to the right of its steps, which Rocky famously ran up in the movie.”  (On Twitter @visitphilly)

So there we have it – our ambitious planning for the Fall and to stay ahead of things and not Fall behind!  We can actually save ourselves some time by doing some planning nowJoin me tomorrow as it will already be Wednesday and we will leave the planning behind us and have a Happy blog post to share!
