Paul Harvey Christmas Day Broadcast of 1965

Merry Christmas 2015!

This year saw the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” recognized with a commemorative booklet of stamps that feature 10 scenes from the classic TV special.   Fifty years!

Today marks 50 years ago the Paul Harvey Christmas Day Broadcast of his from 1965, it is a short parable –“The Story of the Birds”.  His radio broadcasts I enjoyed growing up listening to him especially loving his “The Rest of The Story” segments.   When I first discovered this audio broadcast many weeks ago I knew it would be perfect to share today.

It was a delight to have a group read aloud of “The Red Glass Bowl” with our family last night – the December 1931 Good Housekeeping magazine had arrived earlier this week that I had ordered from Ebay!  There among its pages of the 84 year old magazine was the short story as first published all those years ago.  It arrived in very good condition in a special wrapper and if you pressed your face into the pages a faint mustiness was there adding to its charm.

Wishing you a joyous day today!

Merry Christmas!
