Our trek to Mother’s Day continues with a Coco Chanel 1921 Nostalgia Postcard for today’s blog post.
When I think of CHANEL perfume it immediately brings to mind thoughts of my Mom, recalling Chanel No. 5 is one of her favorite fragrances.
On this day – May 05, 1921 – in France “Chanel Number 5” was introduced to some of Coco Chanel’s friends. It was interesting to read about how the fragrance was first introduced:
“May 5 – 1921 France “Chanel Number 5” Thursday, 5th May 1921 : Chanel introduced “Chanel Number 5″ to some of her friends. Initially, it was given to preferred clients for free at her boutique. The fitting rooms in her boutique were also scented with No. 5. Coco Chanel commissions renowned perfumer Ernest Beaux to create the most expensive perfume in the world, Jasmine was the most expensive perfume oil and Chanel No. 5 relies heavily on Jasmine.”

It was fun to find this Coco Chanel 1921 Nostalgia Postcard on eBid listed for a nominal amount.
Apparently it is is a reproduction of a 1921 magazine cover of Coco Chanel published between 1990 & 1992 by Iris Publishing. While the eBid listing is currently showing a “Holiday Notice” with the Seller away until May 20th – it is available for viewing and in the meantime one can select “Watch Item”.
