Today begins the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend for a lot of us. The World Stamp Show-NY 2016 begins tomorrow with a lot of new stamps to be released.
Before we get busy with backyard cookouts or weekend travel plans I wanted to pause for a few minutes on this Memorial Day weekend.
I am recalling from my Veterans Day blog post last November that “Veterans Day is often confused with Memorial Day (the fourth Monday in May), which honors American service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle. Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans, living or dead.”
Memorial Day Holiday Weekend
For today’s blog post I am reminded of two of my blog posts from last year’s Memorial Day Holiday Weekend: the first is to suggest my blog post “In Flanders Fields” with the beautiful poem. And from my blog post – Serving without the camera during WWII – it begins:
“In thinking of Memorial Day Holiday Weekend and WWII it feels like that was a different era and what came to mind is the number of movie stars who volunteered and served in WWII without the camera on them. From what I read in researching for today’s blogpost, the actors who did have attention focused on them tended to shy away from it, and did so if it would help with recruitment and morale.” To read the entire blog post click here.
Whether your plans find you heading off to the mountains, or the lake, or the beach, or your own backyard – wishing you an enjoyable weekend.

Helen
