Classics Forever Stamps

The Classics Forever Stamps were revealed today at Day 5 of the World Stamp Show-NY 2016, it is scheduled through June 4th.   It is “all about the Benjamins, Georges and Abe unveiled”.   Welcome to the month of June here at AnchoredScraps.com!

It is a treat to get to see each day new stamps introduced at this once-a-decade-event at the World Stamp Show, even if it is getting to see it unfold online.   I’ll have to find out when the next international stamp show is scheduled to be in the U.S. after this week, the last one was sixty years ago!

Classics Forever Stamps

About these stamps – “The U.S. Postal Service issues this Classics Forever souvenir sheet in celebration of the long history of U.S. postage stamps—and in appreciation of stamp collectors and philatelists everywhere. The elaborately designed sheet features handsome new versions of six stamps first issued in the mid-19th century. The stamps are printed using the intaglio printing method, as were the originals.”

“From top, left to right, the stamps featured are:

George Washington stamp, first issued in 1851 at 12 cents.

Benjamin Franklin stamp, first issued in 1851 at one cent.

George Washington stamp, first issued in 1860 at 24 cents.

George Washington stamp, first issued in 1860 at 90 cents.
