HELLO Sign Language Card and Reflecting Current Events in my Letter Writing

The idea of using sign language when greeting given current events finds me including the HELLO Sign Language Card as I write this Sunday blog post. Today’s post is a bit longer, pull up a chair, grab a beverage and enjoy.

First, Some background prompting today’s focus.

Earlier this week I received an email from a dear woman’s volunteer organization I’m a member regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. In it encouraging us when having future meetings to “Practice social distancing” and use the “American sign language to greet one another” as an alternative to our normal greetings including hugging.

Furthermore, in the email I’m referencing above, it included an attachment.  I’m including the one with “Hello in Baby Sign Language”.  And this will take you to the BabySignLanguageHelloVideo.

Next, this YouTube of Greetings & Responses ASL includes “Hello”.

And my new favorite is this ASL sign for “HANDSHAKE”.

Next, the Page & Thread handmade goods from Page Redford, Buffalo, New York has been on Etsy since 2008. The card is available in a choice of white or craft paper. It is $3.00.

HELLO Sign Language Card“This “HELLO” greeting card is a great “anytime” or “thinking of you” card. It features the hands using American Sign Language to spell out the word “HELLO”. It was inspired by my very good friend and her two amazing daughters, one of whom has had difficulty hearing since birth.

This is an original design that is printed and hand-scored and folded. Artwork was created by Page Redford and is only available at Pink Toe Press…”

As we wrap up my post today, here’s to learning some signing. It is definitely something I’ll be writing about now in my letter writing. Join me tomorrow as we kick off the new week.
