Writing today’s blog post is for Remembering 75th Anniversary VE Day 2020.
It was just five years ago, my blog post on this day was on Remembering 70th Anniversary of VE Day … (May 08, 2015).
There are three items I’m sharing for Remembering 75th Anniversary VE Day 2020; each of them has some fantastic photos. You will want to look at them and read their great coverage.
Remembering 75th Anniversary VE Day 2020
To begin with, first, there is the World War II Veterans Mark V-E Day in Washington With Trump, “Seven elderly World War II veterans joined President Donald Trump for a commemoration in Washington to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe.” This is over at the U.S. News & World Report website, by Associated Press, Wire Service Content, May 8, 2020, at 5:57 p.m.
“Ranging in age from 96 to 100, the veterans held their salute as President Donald Trump joined them in a commemoration at the World War II Memorial on a blustery Friday morning.”
Furthermore, the article by Darlene Superville and Kevin Freking, Associated Press begins with the following excerpt I’m including.
“WASHINGTON (AP) — They stormed French beaches on D-Day, helped liberate a concentration camp and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. And seven elderly World War II veterans weren’t about to let the coronavirus pandemic keep them from marking the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe.”
Second, is The Guardian, “VE Day 2020: ‘Never despair’ – Queen addresses nation on 75th anniversary — as it happened”. This has so many great stories with it.
And Third, is the VE DAY 75 org website, which includes the logo image I’m showing in today’s post. In reading it shares about “Cancellation Advice” due to the Coronavirus emergency, with some activities canceled or postponed.
