‘moving the cannonballs v2’ – On decluttering my letter writing stationery & correspondence

‘moving the cannonballs v2‘ is all about decluttering my letter writing stationery & correspondence! With KNOWING downsizing is around the corner for us I’m focusing this next week on decluttering and downsizing some of my letter writing stationery, especially in my study! And so the V2 today with this post! I’ve got boxes and boxes, and tubs of stationery, and correspondence.

In one of my earliest blog posts, October 19, 2015, I shared about the expression ‘moving the cannonballs’, and for me especially when it comes to decluttering and organizing. Even though I love to collect postcards, and stationery and enjoy a wide range of them for my letter writing, I have to from time to time declutter and keep things from becoming too much!

“… In our family and with our friends in time you will hear the expression ‘moving the cannonballs’ – it is used to denote having activity but not making any real progress; it is in reference to an episode from the 1960’s television series: “The Wild Wild West“. The television series ran on “CBS for four seasons (104 episodes) from September 17, 1965 to April 4, 1969. …

For some time now I’ve been looking for the exact episode and finally came across it! In the episode “The Night of the Pelican” our hero, James West (Robert Conrad), goes undercover, who “masquerades as a military prisoner at forbidding Ft. Alcatraz” – he keeps getting assigned to move 105 iron cannonballs – in the three pyramids of cannonballs – (each weighs forty-two pounds) all over the grounds because each time there’s ‘only one minor little problem’…”

Along with writing some Christmas Cards this month (as I noted in last week’s blog post), my plans this week include taking a couple of photos along the decluttering journey of my stationery and correspondence. In my blog post next week THERE COULD BE TALK that I’ll have some items to give away which I’ll include too in my post. In the meantime, should you find yourself thinking of taking decluttering your letter writing stash this next week, know we have a shared mission! I’m even going to look at a few collections of previous years of Christmas Cards (including their envelopes)! Wishing you a great week ahead. See you back here next Sunday!
