Temporary USPS Holiday Shipping Surcharges in effect

There is a temporary USPS holiday shipping surcharges in effect through January 18, 2026. In case you missed seeing it, it began on October 5. This is for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select services.

Before we get started, just wanted to share, the begin date for this is a bit surprising to me, as I was thinking shipping in November is early for the Holidays – and yet they consider it to begin early October!

In this last week’s October 6, 2025 USPS LINK article, it shares:

“The changes will help cover extra handling costs and bring prices for the Postal Service’s commercial and retail customers in line with competitive practices.”

“Temporary price changes take effect, The adjustments will be in place for the holiday shipping season”, Oct. 6 at 11:23 a.m. ET | Updated Oct. 6 at 2:46 p.m. ET

Additionally, there is a lengthy article, over at the sharing the rates in detail USPS National News, Aug. 8, 2025, U.S. Postal Service Announces Temporary Price Change for 2025 Holiday Shipping Season.

The variables for the USPS holiday shipping surcharges are package weight, shipping zone, and service level.

My thanks to Ellen for sharing this with me earlier in the week!

Join me next month, we’ll be doing letters for Thanksgiving! In the meantime hope this finds you well. Thank you for continuing to be on this journey with me.
