We are greeting the new month of August 2019 with these THREE Military Working Dogs Pictorial Postmarks! The First Day of Issue ceremony for the Military Working Dog Forever Stamps is today in Omaha, Nebraska at the APS StampShow / National Topical Stamp Show. This morning the dogs have it!
It is fantastic seeing online this early the NEW USPS Postal Bulletin for August 1 already online and showing so MANY Pictorial Postmarks for this month! In Issue 22525 it shows a LOT of Pictorial Postmarks for JULY with extended dates of 30 days. This includes numerous designs I do not recall seeing before including THREE for Apollo 11 by the American First Day Cover Society, and it caught my eye seeing one for the USS Paul Ignatious DDG 117 Commissioning Day Station.
If you happen to go online early this morning, you may still see it showing in “pre-order” status awaiting today’s date over at the USPS Postal Store SKU 680304.
Next, you may recall, back on February 7, my post was on the Military Working Dogs Forever stamp 2019. The below is from the Press Release mentioning them.
“The Postal Service honors the nation’s brave and loyal military working dogs with this new booklet of 20 stamps. Each block of four stamps features one stamp of each of the following breeds — German shepherd, Labrador retriever, Belgian Malinois and Dutch shepherd — that commonly serve in America’s armed forces. The background of each stamp features a detail of a white star. A star appears in the center of each block. The stylized digital illustrations are in red, white, blue and gold to represent the American flag and patriotism…”

Wishing us all a great month ahead!

P.S. Speaking of dogs, I’m seeing where “The Art of Racing in the Rain” (Garth Stein) is releasing as a movie on August 9th, we had a blog post on it here back on December 20, 2015. I remember sobbing my heart out reading this, with the timing so recent at the time after losing our Brittany Spaniel Cuddy.
