Letters from Father Christmas by J. R. R. Tolkien is our letter writing topic today. At the conclusion of my post, I’m including a five minute YouTube video I came across by Pontus Presents; they walk us through the book construction while turning pages.
I’ve been looking at this book for some time to include here. My best of intentions were to read this beforehand; however, here we are with me now awaiting its arrival to read. When thinking of the size of this hardback, think a little larger than 5 x 7. ( 5.3 x 0.7 x 8 inches).
Letters from Father Christmas by J. R. R. Tolkien
The letters were written between 1920 – 1942 for his children.
“Every December an envelope bearing a stamp from the North Pole would arrive for J.R.R. Tolkien’s children. Inside would be a letter i
n a strange, spidery handwriting and a beautiful colored drawing or painting. The letters were from Father Christmas.
They told wonderful tales of life at the North Pole: how the reindeer got loose and scattered presents all over the place; how the accident-prone North Polar Bear climbed the North Pole and fell through the roof of Father Christmas’s house into the dining room; … how there were wars with the troublesome horde of goblins who lived in the caves beneath the house, and many more.
No reader, young or old, can fail to be charmed by Tolkien’s inventiveness in this classic holiday treat.”
Thank you for joining me today. This is a book I’m ordering and anticipating having it here within this next week. I’m looking forward to its arrival. Enjoy!

Helen
