The USAA Poppy Wall of Honor is open through today on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
It “honors the life of every service member lost since World War I.”
Also, be prepared to have tissues on hand when watching the two-minute VR Experience at the MUST SEE Online Poppy Memorial. The PoppyInMemory Virtual Tribute is stunning, and I am still looking for more tissues!
At its conclusion, USAA invites us to dedicate a poppy to a fallen hero. #HonorThroughAction.
Next, we have the USAA Poppy Wall of Honor website I’m including screenshot and link to it along with excerpts from the 6abc.com attribution listing below.
“The USAA Poppy Wall of Honor includes 645,000 real poppies in a translucent box.”
“The USAA-sponsored exhibit drew more than 15,000 visitors last year. For 2019, it also includes a panel commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the day the Allies invaded Normandy during World War II. That invasion alone resulted in thousands of American casualties.”
“Poppies included in the display come from the VFW Buddy Poppy program, which pays disabled veterans in VA hospitals to assemble the flowers, and the American Legion Family.”
And lastly, I’m embedding this USAA tweet on Friday showing elapsed time setting up the USAA Poppy Wall of Honor.
Working overnight, USAA’s Poppy Wall of Honor, located on the National Mall near the Lincoln Memorial, is open. Filled with 645,000 poppies representing America’s fallen since World War I. To dedicate a poppy, visit https://t.co/ooH4Er4p4N #HonorThroughAction #MemorialDay pic.twitter.com/i7IMb2vR6Y
