The Lone Ranger 2009 stamp

We are kicking off Monday with a spring in our step with The Lone Ranger 2009 stamp.

On this day in 1933 “The Lone Ranger debuts on Detroit radio”.  And we’ve got The Lone Ranger Fan Club including audio of the opening!

The Lone Ranger 2009 stampThe Lone Ranger 2009 stamp, 44¢ was part of the Early TV Memories commemorative stamps.  We have previously covered some of the 20 stamps in that series including The Honeymooners; The Ed Sullivan Show; and Perry Mason.

There is a wonderful history of Lone Ranger Radio over at The LoneRangerFanClub including vintage photos, along with a page on the postage stamp!”

“Though the exact date of the first Lone Ranger broadcast is often debated, it has been widely accepted that Jan. 30, 1933, marked the first time the masked man sprang into action. We acknowledge Feb. 2, 1933, as the date of the first official broadcast.”

At the bottom of that page it includes this note:

“…There were 3,336 original broadcasts of “The Lone Ranger.” The most authoritative documentation of the program can be found in The Lone Ranger Log by Terry Salomonson. …”

I’m closing today with their link to “Hear the opening of The Lone Ranger television show.”   “Hi-yo, Silver, away!” – And we are off to a new week!
