On this Fathers Day 2017, we are looking at the Hanx Writer App Virtual Typewriter Collection. There was an article two weeks ago at The Typosphere; the actor Tom Hanks’ app has three new virtual typewriters showcased in New Hanx Writers.  There is a new documentary this summer featuring Tom Hanks on typewriters, “California Typewriter”. Today wraps up our Fathers Day Weekend focus on Typewriters, especially since I have my Dad’s Typewriter.

“California Typewriter” Upcoming Documentary

Yesterday’s blog post included referencing an article over at WRAL.com on Vintage typewriters gain fans amid ‘digital burnout’.

It mentions: “A documentary on typewriters featuring Tom Hanks and musician John Mayer is set for release this summer.” The documentary is called “California Typewriter”.

“In his film, set for release in August, Nichol interviews Hanks, who said he uses a typewriter almost every day to send memos and letters.

“I hate getting email thank-yous from folks,” Hanks says in the film. “Now, if they take 70 seconds to type me out something on a piece of paper and send to me, well, I’ll keep that forever. I’ll just delete that email.”

Hanks owns about 270 typewriters but often gives them to people who show an interest.”
