We are one week away from the arrival of the United States Air Mail Blue Forever Stamp. In reading about this new stamp celebrating the beginning of regular airmail service 100 years ago, I’m reminded of the must read book WWI Letters Dear Boys In Service by Frank Skidmore which we covered last April. In addition, I’m still making my way through the hard back book Mavericks of the Sky: The First Daring Pilots of the U.S. Air Mail  I was blogging about in February.

United States Air Mail Blue Forever Stamp

Firstly, it is one of two stamps in 2018 honoring the 100th anniversary of the “beginning of regular airmail service.”  United States Air Mail Blue Forever Stamp

Secondly, one can currently pre-order a Commemorative Pane of 20 stamps; the issue date is May 01, 2018.

Thirdly, you’ll note that the sheet of 20 stamps is $10.00, the Forever pricing of 50 cents each at the First-Class Mail rate.

I’m including from the Stamp Announcement the below excerpt.

“In honor of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of regular airmail service, the Postal Service™ will issue two stamps in 2018. The first stamp, issued May 1, commemorates the pioneering spirit of the brave Army pilots who initiated the world’s first regularly scheduled airmail service.
The stamp, rendered in blue and printed in intaglio, features a drawing of the type of plane typically used in the early days of airmail, a Curtiss JN-4H biplane.
An identical stamp, printed in red, will commemorate the beginning of airmail delivery through the U.S. Post Office Department, which began in August 1918. The red stamp will be issued later this summer…”
