On this New Year’s Eve 2017 we are wrapping up the month and year with December 2017 AnchoredScraps Daily Blog Recap. And we are recalling Johnny Mathis with “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve”. In looking around at songs for bringing in the new year, I’m remembering growing up getting out my Mom’s vinyl records and playing Johnny Mathis with “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve – it is still my favorite version. In writing this blog post, I found myself dialing Mom and knowing she still has all of her Johnny Mathis albums ask, which album was it on? She knew without even having to look at the album cover! Thanks, Mom! I’m including an image of the cover from Johnny Mathis, “Give Me Your Love For Christmas” album. It is interesting to note that as his website johnnymathis.com I’m not seeing the cover included! There are other renditions of the song, including by Karen Carpenter.
By the way, TCM is having their New Year’s Eve Thin Man Marathon tonight. Thank you, Tally, for sharing that with me! I’ve got all of the movies in the series in a DVD collection. Both Wiliam Powell, and Myrna Loy were included in a blog post previously on Seein’ Stars Stamps (‘Cinderella’ stamps) back in 2015 here.
